A Community for Parents of Addicted Adult Children
You don’t have to go through this alone. Connect with mothers and parents who understand your journey and discover a new way to love and support your child without losing yourself.
What Is the Live Well & Fully Parent Community?
The Live Well & Fully Parent Community is an online space for moms navigating an adult child’s addiction or recovery. It is where you stop having to translate your day to people who do not get it, and start being met by women who already speak the language.
This is not a vent room. It is a working community grounded in the Love Another Way™ framework, with practical strategies, real-time questions, and steady support from moms a few steps further down the road.
Inside, you will find moms who:
- Set boundaries that hold without burning the relationship down
- Stop reacting to the chaos and start responding from clarity
- Reclaim sleep, peace, and a life of their own while their child is still in the storm
- Show up for each other when things go sideways at 11pm on a Tuesday
You are not the first mom to feel this way, and you are not the only one in the room. That alone changes things.
Why Traditional Support Groups Fall Short
Many parents come to me after attending traditional communities. While those groups can be helpful for some, others leave feeling:
- Powerless in the face of their struggles.
- Overwhelmed by constant worry, fear, and “what ifs.”
- Unsure where to turn after rehab, therapies, and even traditional support groups.
I know, because I was one of them.
When my son, Eric, was caught in addiction and mental illness, I was desperate. I tried everything – from rules and punishments to begging and enabling – and nothing worked.
I joined support groups, but I still left feeling powerless. They told me to stop enabling, but no one explained how. It wasn’t until I discovered that the person who needed to change was me that everything shifted.
By learning to love another way, I reclaimed my peace – and gave Eric the space he needed to choose recovery.

If you’re searching for a community or support group for parents of addicts, you’ve found a safe place to land. You’ll discover that you’re not alone – and that you can begin to worry less, feel less pain, and live fully again.
Who Is This For? And Who Is It Not For?
This is for you if…
-
You’ve spent years navigating treatment, rehab, and recovery programs – and still feel like you’re failing your adult child.
-
You’re exhausted by addiction’s chaos – the broken promises, missed calls, and behaviors that don’t make sense.
-
You want to understand what your adult child is actually experiencing so you can respond without escalating.
-
You crave the company of other parents who know exactly what it’s like to love someone in active addiction.
-
You’re ready to find peace and steadiness for yourself, even while your child is still using.
This is not for you if…
-
You want someone else to manage your adult child’s addiction for them or for you.
-
You’re looking for a quick fix that ends the addiction without ongoing care, support, and adjustment.
-
You’d rather avoid setting boundaries that protect you from the chaos of your loved one’s addiction.
-
You expect addiction to “go away” through positive thinking or willpower.
Here’s How to Join
The Transformative Boundaries Experience™
Replace the “Mom Code” with a boundary practice that supports your loved one’s recovery without draining yours.
What It Is:
The Transformative Boundaries Experience™ is an 8-week coached program that replaces the “Mom Code” you have lived by – the one that keeps you saying yes, softening, rescuing – with a real boundary practice that supports your loved one’s recovery without draining yours.
You move through structured modules while meeting weekly in a Progress Coaching pod with other moms on the same road, developed by a Certified Family Recovery Specialist. The shift interrupts the patterns your child has come to expect and opens space for recovery to become their choice, not your demand.
Who It’s For:
Moms of adult children with addiction or mental illness who are ready for a deep, sustained transformation. The ones who have tried the books, the therapy, the ultimatums – and know that what needs to change most is how they are showing up in their own life.
What You’ll Learn:
- How to replace the “Mom Code” with boundaries that actually hold – without guilt, without explanation, without a fight every time
- How to support recovery without feeding the cycle, and how to tell the difference between the two in real time
- A sustainable practice for staying grounded when your loved one relapses, lies, or lashes out – and a weekly coaching pod to steady you through it
Decode Addiction™
Understand what is really driving your adult child’s addiction – and end the cycle of chaos and worry.
What It Is:
Decode Addiction™ is an 8-week coached program built around the “Smothering Strategy” – a Family-First approach that ends the cycle of pleading, yelling, and enabling by changing the one variable you actually control: you.
Educational modules and real-world case studies walk you through how addiction rewires the brain and distorts perception. The shift interrupts the patterns your child has come to expect and opens space for recovery to become their choice, not your demand.
Who It’s For:
Moms at their wits’ end who want a deep, clinical understanding of addiction so they can stop reacting from fear and start responding from clarity.
What You’ll Learn:
- How addiction rewires the brain and why the person you are speaking to is not the person you raised
- Why well-meaning actions – rescuing, covering, lecturing – can unintentionally deepen the disease
- How to use the Smothering Strategy to interrupt patterns and make healthier choices the path of least resistance
Transformative Communications™
Speak the words that matter – without triggering blame, retreat, or another fight.
What It Is:
Transformative Communications is an 8-week coached program built on the U.P.R. Protocol. You learn to say what you need to say – calmly, clearly, and in a way that the other person can actually hear, even when emotions run high.
Live coaching, real-life scripts, and weekly practice with other moms working the same skill.
Who It’s For:
Moms whose relationship with their adult child has gone dark – conversations explode or shut down, silence has become the new normal, and they can’t seem to get through anymore.
What You’ll Learn:
- How to speak up and get heard without triggering backlash, retreat, or blame
- De-escalation language that works in real time – not just in theory
- How to step out of the villain role your loved one has cast you in, without abandoning them
Meet Your Graduate Coaches
Inside the community, you will be supported by a graduate coach who has done the work herself, raised a family through it, and now guides other parents through the same path.
Barbara Decker – Founder & Teacher
Barbara is the founder of Live Well and Fully and the creator of all the frameworks and programs you’ll find here. Her personal journey inspired the tools now used by thousands of parents to reclaim their peace, confidence, and voice. Inside the community, Barbara stays closely connected by hosting monthly live Coach-A-Thon sessions open to all members, being active daily in the private Facebook community, and continuing to teach and encourage parents as they put these tools into practice.
Cathie Fischer
Cathie Fischer has been part of Live Well & Fully since its earliest days. Starting as a student, she quickly grew into a valued graduate coach known for her compassion, insight, and steady presence. Many parents will recognize her from progress calls in our coached programs, where she has earned deep appreciation from members past and present.
As a mother of four – two biological and two adopted – Cathie brings a wealth of real-life experience to her coaching. Her journey with Live Well & Fully taught her how to set boundaries, cultivate peace, and strengthen her most important relationships.
Beyond her coaching, Cathie volunteers with Foster and Adoption Services, Family Support Organizations, and Special Education Advisory Boards, where she offers guidance to families navigating complex systems.
She enjoys her empty nest years reading, learning, swimming, and looks forward to traveling with her husband in retirement. A Church Office Administrator by day, Cathie embodies kindness, empathy, and understanding in every role she takes on.
Her greatest joy is witnessing growth – watching parents find peace, clarity, and deeper connection through this work. Members describe her as a grounding, compassionate guide who helps them uncover what is possible when they finally put their own wellbeing first.
